Piercing Aftercare
Everyone’s body is different and heals at different rates. There is no standard healing time.
- Some swelling, bleeding, bruising, or itching is normal after being pierced.
- A lot of piercings are done with longer jewelry to allow for some swelling. It’s important to downsize to properly fitting jewelry after swelling is down to ensure proper angles and healing.
- Leave your jewelry in at all times while the piercing is still healing, and have it changed by a professional while healing.
- Avoid touching your new piercing. Make sure to thoroughly wash your hands before cleaning your piercing.
- Clean your piercing as advised by your piercer.
- Only use sterile saline to clean your piercing. Hot water flushes, in the shower are okay, as well. You can soak a cotton swab in saline to gently remove any crusties. Do not use any harsh chemicals. Including alcohol, iodine, tea tree oil, or Neosporin.
- Never rotate or spin your jewelry. The less movement the better.
- Check your jewelry regularly, with clean hands, the tightness of the ends. (Lefty loosey, righty tighty) Some of our ends are push pin and press together instead of twist.
- NO PRESSURE! This means no sleeping directly on your new piercing. No ear buds, no stethoscopes, etc.
- Avoid soaking your new piercing. No baths, hot tubs, pools, or lakes, while healing.
- No bodily fluids on, or around the piercing site, while it is healing. No open mouth kissing, etc.
- Oral piercings should be cleaned with an antiseptic, non- whitening , alcohol- free mouth wash after meals and snacks.
- If you think you may have an infection seek medical attention immediately. Keep your jewelry in place until you get to the professionals. They will advise further.
- If you decide you no longer want your piercing a piercer can always help remove your jewelry.
- Always call or stop in the shop with any concerns or questions. We are here for you.
